Ash!

Effect:
A name is written on a piece of paper on a notepad by the spectator , the paper is torn off
unseen by the magician, crumpled up and placed in an ashtray.

It is then set alight.

The ashes are then rubbed on the magicians arm and the name of the person written on the paper mysteriously appears.

Preparation:
You will need a small notepad , pen , ashtray , lighter and a small piece of soap or
wax.

Method:
The spectator is asked to write the name of a person or favourite anything of theirs on a
notepad.

Then too tear of the sheet of notepaper, crumple it up and place it in the ashtray, where the
magician then sets the paper alight.

The magician takes the notepad of the spectator and should be able to see the imprint of the name
written on the paper above in the next sheet of the notepad.

Looking at the pad should not be made obvious and some misdirection carried out while he
carefully takes the small piece of wax or soap and writes the name on the imprint on his arm or
hand (this will not be visible to anyone ).

The magician can then take some ash from the ashtray and rub it over the wax where it will stick
and create an impression of the spectators word to their amazement.

This is a great trick but depends on the magician creating an atmosphere with an entertaining
routine and patter about black magic to enhance the effect and create misdirection to allow him
time to pull off the trick.

Glass through!

Effect: A cup or glass vanishes when wrapped in a sheet of paper.

Secret: A piece of paper wrapped around the cup or glass will retain the shape of the cup – even after themagician has secretly dropped the cup into his lap.

Props: A cup or glass, any small object and a sheet of newspaper or tissue paper. Preparation: Select a piece of newspaper slightly larger than the cup so that it will cover it completely withsome overlap.

Presentation: Place the cup over any small object and wrap the paper around it. Ask the audience what isunder the cup. Everyone will, of course, suspect that you are about to vanish the object. Lift the paper andcup to reassure everyone that the object is still on the table. Moving the wrapped cup slightly towards you, just clear of the table relax your hold so that the cup is allowed to quietly drop into your lap, out of sight ofthe audience, of course, whose attention is still focused on the object. The paper will retain the shape of thecup. When you again place the paper over the object, you must maintain the illusion that you are replacingboth paper and cup. Wave your hand mysteriously over the "cup" and claim that you will make the objectvanish. When you lift the "cup" the object is still there. Remove the object but replace the "cup". Tell theaudience that something must have gone wrong and you are unable to vanish the object, so you have decidedto vanish the cup instead! At that moment dramatically smash your hand down onto the paper which willflatten, giving the appearance that the "cup" has penetrated the table. Bring the cup from under the table(removing it from your lap, in one smooth movement) and replace it on the table.

Wand Power

Effect: The magician makes some mysterious passes around a wand or pencil which uncannily starts tomove on its own.

Secret: The magician secretly blows on the wand, which causes it to roll.

Props: Use a wand or pencil. A smooth, firm surface is essential.Preparation: Practise blowing toward the wand gently and secretly.

Presentation: Lay the wand on the table and very slowly trace circles around the outside of the wand with afinger. Then, as you move the finger away, the wand seems to follow. You claim to have created a static fieldthat pulls plastic like a magnet. The trick is that as you draw the finger away from you and from the wand, you blow gently on the wand. The audience is so busy watching the movement of the finger, they won'tnotice that you are blowing towards the wand, which causes it to roll easily on the flat surface.

Coin Again

Effect:

The magician shows a glass, upside down, and a coin on a sheet of colored paper.

He puts a handkerchief over the glass and moves it over.

He pulls the handkerchief off and Abracadabra! the coin has disappeared.

Items Needed:

A sheet of construction paper (1), a clear glass, a handkerchief and a coin.

Preparation:

Trace the glass onto the sheet of paper and cut the circle out. Then tape it to the glass so when you put it onto a piece of paper the same color it blends in.

Secret:

When you do the above put the glass onto a piece of paper and just basically move the paper covered glass over the coin while the whole thing is under the handkerchief so the glass covers the coin. Pull off the handkerchief. The coin will have "disappeared.

Coin!

Items Needed :
paper or plastic cup either works fine
paper towel
a coin
and a hard surface

I have magic trick to share, my name is ++++

What you do is place the cup over the coin and cover the cup up with the paper towel. The audience should be on the opposite side of the table and you should be sitting. Lift up the cup and make the audience concentrate on the coin, while they are not looking drop the cup on your lap still holding the paper towel (which should be in the shape of the cup) place it back on the table. When you have the audiences attention smash down the cup and drop the cup from your lap and show the audience that there is no hole in the table and the coin is still there. Smile.

Envelope

Trick

Thanks so much to Shelly for sending this in!!
Effect:

The magician asks for a volunteer to write down four numbers on a piece of paper.

The magician asks the volunteer to TOTAL up the numbers.

The magician opens a sealed envelope and it has the same number as the TOTAL!

(or have the magic puppet pull out an envelope and hand it to the magician. Have the puppet "whisper" to the magician to open up the envelope.)
Supplies:

~piece of paper
~a pen
~an envelope
Secret:

Before the show, write down a four figure number that is 2 times the current year's date. For example, in the year 2000, the number would = 4000. In the year 2001, the number would = 4002

Seal the paper in the envelope.

At the show, ask a helper to write down the year he was born.

Ask him to write down the year of an important event in his life (for example, the year he started school or the year he lost his first tooth)

Ask him to write down his age

Ask him to write down the number of years that have passed since the important event

(these numbers HAVE to be right *grin*... if it's been 4 years since the event and he writes down 3, the trick won't work)

The years have to be whole numbers (he can't say he's 6 and a half years old)

Have the assistant TOTAL the 4 numbers.

Open the envelope. The TOTAL will be the same as the number you already wrote down!

Sugar Cube

Trick

Thanks so much to Rita for sending this in!!
Effect:

The magician asks for a volunteer from the audience.

The volunteer picks a number between 1 and 10.

The magician writes the number on a sugar cube.

The magician drops the cube into a cup of water and holds the volunteer's hand over the water.

He/she turns the volunteer's hand over and Poof! the number is on the volunteer's hand.
Supplies:

~a pencil (must be a pencil, pen will NOT work)
~a sugar cube (you can have several for effect)
~a glass of water
Secret:

Have the volunteer pick a number.

Write it onto the sugar cube with a pencil (press hard).

Then, hold the cube between your thumb and one finger.

Hold it so the number transfers onto your thumb and say," Now I will put this cube into the cup".

Press the cube as hard as possible so the number is on your thumb.

Put the cube into the water and hold the volunteer's hand above the water, make sure your thumb is in their palm so the number from your finger transfers onto the volunteer's hand.

This is a good trick to show smaller kids because they are less likely to figure out the trick.

CARD COUGH

Effect: The magician has a card selected and signed. The card is then shuffled into the pack by the spectator and it is the magicians job to locate it. Unfortunately , the magician cannot seem to get it right , but after a few attempts , the magician seems to actually regurgitate a tightly folded card. It is the spectators card , with their signature.

Preparation: You need a pen and a deck of cards

Method: Have the spectator select a card from the deck and show it to the audience.

After the card is signed, control it to the top of the deck by means of a Hindu Shuffle control or a revolving pass.

The deck is now held in the standard dealing position in the left hand (with the chosen card at the top)

Get a finger break under the top card and palm it with your right hand immediately.

Flourish the rest of the deck with a one hand cut, or one hand shuffle with your left hand and offer it to a spectator to simply mix up the cards.

Make sure the spectator starts to shuffle because some stubborn people start to shuffle through the deck looking for their card.

Then turn your back making this move seem natural to show at there is no possible way that you could know where the card is .

At this time you are folding the palmed card into eighths (The smaller the better) This is easy as your back is turned you can use both hands to do this and then slip the tiny package in your mouth between your cheek and gum.

Turn around to face the audience as the card is folded so tightly in your mouth, you can talk normally.

Take the cards and act as if you messed up.

Turn over a couple of cards to reveal what was supposed to be their selection.

Do whatever you want , just make yourself look, bad .

As soon as people start to laugh at you , act as if your hurt , as if something inside of you is wanting to get out.

Make the audience curious , and have the suspense build up.

As soon as they reach their peak , work the card out of your lips and and slowly spit the card out onto the palm of your hand.

Unfold it , and watch the audience scream at the chosen signed card. It looks as if you somehow swallowed the card beforehand and regurgitated it back up again.

FLY RESURRECTION

Effect : You are walking down the street and casually pick any spectator,. You ask them to come with you to a nearby car and pick a dead fly off the windscreen. You hold it in your hand do a few passes with the other hand and appear to be really concentrating and the fly slowly comes back to life to the surprise of the spectator.

Preparation : Freeze the fly

Method :You need to catch a fly and freeze it which puts it in a temporary coma, this can be done by swatting the fly hard enough to immobilise it then placing it in a small container in the freezer.

The fly then needs to be quickly taken to a suitable windscreen IN THE SHADE and placed there.

It is important that the car is in the shade to prevent the fly from defrosting too quickly. Then go and find a spectator and take them back to the car which should appear to be randomly picked. The heat of your hand will revive the fly which should soon start to move.

Freezing the fly with dry ice or even one of these aerosol canned air products for cleaning computers is a better way of freezing the fly as it is quicker and causes less damage to the fly.

Hole in Pocket

The Effect: Borrow a coin and have it marked. You say that you are always losing money through a hole in your pocket and then you drop the marked coin into your pocket. "What's weird", you say, "is that the hole isn't in this pocket (the one in which you dropped the coin), but in this one!" You lift up your other foot and the borrowed marked coin is there!

The Method: You need an extra coin. (Well, how did you think it was done?) Most people have a quarter on them, so let's say you want to borrow a quarter. On an "off moment", secretly place the extra quarter under your left foot. (I sometimes adjust my socks and stick it under the shoe.) Have someone loan you a quarter and ask them to mark it in some unusual way with a pen.

Take the quarter and just drop it into your right trouser pocket. Shake your leg as if you are shaking the coin into the hole and down your leg. Then say, "What's weird is that the hole isn't in this pocket (the one in which you dropped the coin), but in this one!" You lift up your other foot and the borrowed coin is there!

Then - and here's where you've gotta have guts - pick up the coin with your right hand and place it (don't drop it!) into the right trouser pocket as you pick up the other coin with the same hand. (Just switch them.) With your hand still in the pocket, look confused and say, "I'm sorry, did you lend me this or was it mine?" He'll tell you it was his and you'll return his coin (the marked one). He'll, of course, inspect the coin for the mark. It's gutsy, but it works.

Card Through Window

Effect : The performer asks the spectator to pick a card without him seeing the face and replace it in the pack.

The pack is then shuffled and the performer is apparently unsuccessful in locating the card.
After a few attempts, the cards are thrown against a window in a fit of rage. On looking at the window, the chosen card is seen to be sticking to it, even more surprising is the fact that the card is on the inside of the window.

Preparation : You will need two identical packs of cards and a willing helper.

Method: This trick should be performed in an area with a large window nearby and with the spectator facing away from the window.
The spectator is asked to choose a card from a pack, memorize it and without showing you, replace the card in the pack.

The pack is then shuffled and and a couple of attempts at "is this your card " tried followed by a look of disbelief when the spectator tells you that it is not their card (this is all part of the act as you don''t even need to know the card).

After a few attempts you fake an angry outburst and making sure the cards are squared up throw the pack broadside at the window, where they will hit the window and fall to the ground, except the chosen card which is sticking to the window.

Your helper was already positioned behind the window and spectator and had an identical pack of cards. He was able to see the chosen card and took the duplicate from his pack.
A small piece of looped sticky tape or magicians wax was attached to the duplicate card and it was stuck to the inside of the window.

The helper should then have walked away from the window.
This trick creates a real surprise but it is important to pick up the fallen cards quickly and to pocket the original chosen card.

CARD IN BOTTLE

Effect: The spectator is asked to sign a card and the card is placed back in the deck. and the cards
are shuffled.

The magician throws the cards at a bottle behind the spectators.

The signed card appears in the bottle.

Method: David Blaine showed the spectators a different trick before this one involving the same spectator signing a card of the same number and suit that is forced when showing the card in the bottle trick following after the card trick.

He then keeps the card and does another trick not involving cards and slips the card to one of the camera men or lights crew. The guy then puts the card in the bottle while David distracts the audience with the trick.

Then he goes on to perform the card in the bottle trick and the card is forced, signed, and the trick is done.

He then throws the cards at the bottle and the card that was recently signed is held on to.

He then tells everyone to look at the bottle and the card is slipped in his pocket.

PSYCHIC TRICK

Effect

A watch is borrowed, the magician does not carry anything! After showing the watch to those nearby who notice the current time, you place the watch face down in the spectator’s hand. His hand is closed over the watch. The magician doesn't not touch the watch again. The magician then asks the spectator to name a number and then to concentrate on that number and the watch. He opens his hand, turns over the watch and sees that the hands of the watch have moved that many minutes! This trick does not require any gimmicks.

Props: wearing an analogue watch (a watch with an long stem that's easy to manipulate
quickly. i.e.: SEIKO watches)

Preparation: You need to wear a watch of your own with the wrong time.

Method: Ask your victim for his watch with an excuse like, "I think my time is wrong can I see yours for a second?"

Borrow the watch for a minute and examine it look at it, state what time it has, and say, "is this the right time, I need to know."

Now glance at the time on YOUR watch, and draw attention to it by setting its time. While they looking at you, set the time on YOUR watch. Your other hand is moving their stem so THEIR time moved forward 25 minutes. Now have them sandwich their watch between their hands, and ask them to pick a number from 10 through 30. Most people will pick 25 if they pick 20, they won't notice it's off by five minutes when you reveal that the hands of their watch have moved forward in time.... If they pick something below that number, tell them to make it harder, and pick a higher number. It gets them everytime... just remember to give a great patter when doing this trick.

TIPS: I recommend trying to do this on nervous or shy people so they don't know what you're doing. The key to this trick is misdirection , but it's very easy to get caught.

Twisting Arm illusion

(Original effect by Shinkoh)

Unleash the power of illusion with this unique free discovery which allows you to master the secret of
arm twisting 360 degrees made famous by David Blaine , with incredible results .

EFFECT:

After asking a spectator to copy the action of you putting your hand on the table, you are able to twist
your arm a full 360 degrees while others look at you in disbelief

PREPARATION:

Just a long sleeve shirt. everything else is impromptu.

METHOD:

THE SECRET MOVE (WITH THE RIGHT HAND): on the table, have your fingers pointing towards
your body. this may seem a bit uncomfortable, but the effect is well worth it , now, you should have
your fingers pointing to the left , now turn your palm up (still having the fingers pointing left) but
keep turning the hand over the same way until it is face down again.

With a long sleeve shirt, it looks as if your hand is just turned sideways to the left ( in reality, it's
twisted 270 degrees to the right).

METHOD:

Hand on the table (or sidewalk... wherever you want to perform).Tell him to do exactly what you're
doing and start slowly twisting your arm COUNTERCLOCKWISE.

When your fingers start to point to the left, distract him from what you're doing , say something like

"you're doing it wrong; do exactly what I'm doing!" or "maybe you should back up a bit to get a
better view of my directions."
With that , point to his hand or push him away a bit with your other hand , and do the secret move
while his eyes are concentrated on himself. When you have the secret move done , it's a simple matter
of him trying to do what you're doing again. but little does he know you're simply UNTWISTING
your arm instead of twisting it like himself.

By putting a plastic cup or hard cellophane tucked under your armpit , you can make a bone
crunching noise by pressing gently as you twist your arm to add to the effect.
This trick is very clearly explained in the Twisting arm illusion video of Meir Yedid which can be
ordered online. It will allow you to perform this fantastic illusion to great effect very quickly.

UNDER COVER

EFFECT:
Any pack may be used. Performer turns his back. A spectator
freely selects a card, replaces it reversed in the middle of the pack,
squares the cards and lays a handkerchief over them. Performer lifts
the pack and handkerchief and a card is seen to rise from the pack
raising the fabric. This is lifted off with the covering and is found to be
the chosen card.

HOW :
This effective trick depends on the fact that a pack will cut
automatically at a reversed card. This can be tested by reversing a
card in the middle and holding the pack at the tips of the fingers and
thumb of the left hand in position for the Charlier pass. Ease up the
pressure of the thumb, and it will be found that the cards below the
reversed card will fall. Complete the pass in the usual way and the
reversed card will be on the bottom of the pack.
In doing the trick lift the pack in position for the Charlier pass, and
make it, as you drape the handkerchief over the cards. You have then
simply to hold the pack upright and push up the rear card with the first
and second fingers taking the handkerchief with it. Take the card with
the fabric from above with the right hand, turn the hand over, letting
the handkerchief folds fall down over the wrist and display the card
with its face to the spectators

CONJURING TRICK

An Oldie But A Goodie
Mathematical discovery-- ask a person to choose a card. tell him to remember it's numerical value (ace = one, jack- = 11, queen = 12, king = 13) ---also the suit of the card.
Tell them to double the value of the card
Then tell them to add three to the total
Then tell them to multiply the complete total by five
This done ask them to concentrate on the suit
If the card is a diamond they must add one
If the card is a club they must add two
If the card is a heart they must add three
If the card is a spade they must add four
They must then tell you the final total
From it you immediately know the chosen card
The secret is to mentally subtract 15 from the given total--you will have a number of two figures- possibly three
The last figure gives you the suit(diamonds 1, clubs 2, hearts 3, spades 4.) while the first figure gives you the suit.
Example: Jack of clubs
11 doublesd is 22, add 3--25, multiply by 5--125. add for clubs--makes 127. You are told that number
Subtract 15 mentally. result 112. last figure (2) means clubs, first figure(11) means jack.

Mind Magic

Effect :
In this baffling magic routine the magician asks a member of the audience, a series of questions, a lot of them that are unique to that person. The spectator is asked to write each answer on a piece of paper and place the piece of paper in glass. At the same time, the magician is seen to be concentrating deeply, seemingly using his magic and psychic powers and writing his prediction on a separate piece of paper which he also puts in another glass. After the last question has been asked, the magician's predicted answers are compared with the spectator's answers and are found to be the same. This can get an amazing reaction from the audience as the magician is seen to be able to read thoughts by magic.

Method:
The spectator is asked a series of questions and asked to write them on a piece of paper and place the piece of paper in a glass. After each answer has been placed in the glass by the spectator, the magician asks the spectator what answer they had given. The magician acknowledges that he had also predicted that answer and placed it in his glass.

Really, the magician writes the spectators answer one question behind. The spectator has told the magician, the answer to the last question asked which the magician will write and put in his glass after asking the next question. When the first question has been asked and the spectator reveals his answer, the magician has placed his supposed prediction in another glass at the same time. What he has actually written on his paper is "carrot " which is the most probable answer to the final question that the spectator will be asked shortly. The will allow the magician to write each answer as the spectator reveals it. The spectator will be unaware that the magician is writing his answers one question behind. Take out the papers from the glasses and pair up the answers. Stand back and watch the amazed expression of your onlookers as they are amazed by your magic prowess by performing this magic trick.

Example Questions :
Question /Spectator's Answer /Magician's Answer
1) What is your favourite football team? /Manchester United /Carrot
2) Who is your favourite music artist? /Britney Spears /Manchester United
3)Favourite Colour? /Green /Britney Spears
4)Favourite Car?/ Ferrari /Green
5) Name a vegetable/ Carrot /Ferrari

You should find that most people will choose carrot as their choice of vegetable, however this will not always be the case. If they choose another answer then the audience will still be impressed that you have predicted the other answers. A lot of the magic atmosphere in this magic trick is due to the presentation by the mind reading magician. Be sure to practice your patter whether it be babbling on about special psychic powers handed on from a gypsy fortune teller or whatever. Just make sure that it is entertaining to get the maximum astonishment from this trick.

Card in Pocket

The magician puts the whole deck into his pocket and eventually pulls out the one "freely" chosen card by the volunteer.

Secret:

This is a psychological card force. First, look at either the top or bottom card in the deck and remember it.

You will force them to pick this card. Here's how it works.
Choose a color...red or black.

Let's assume the card is the seven of diamonds. If they say red say Great! and move on. If they say black, say "Great! that leaves...Red..right"

"Okay red it is"

Now let's decide if we want it high or low. "When I snap my fingers you say high 7,8,9,10, Jack, Queen, King or low Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6"

If they say low, say Great! Low is elimanted! If they say Red, say "Great! Red it is!"
Are you getting the hang of this?

Then just have them name a few different cards in the last step. Proceed as you did above. Narrow it down to the one card.

Remember, stay excited about their choices, don't ever hesitate. Although this trick has a simple secret, it is very difficult to do flawlessly and without pause or hesitation.

In the end, pull the one card out of your pocket as you pretend to feel around the shuffled deck for it.

Voila! The seven of diamonds!

Remember Card

Hey i am a good fan of card tricks... i would love to share them with u ... enjoy it if it is new, i am sorry if u already know it.

Indian Rope Trick

The trick
There are different accounts of the Indian rope trick in circulation, but apart from minor changes in the settings and the participants, the basic trick remained the same as described below.

In the simplest version of the trick, the magician would hurl a rope into the air. The rope did not fall but stood erect. His boy assistant would climb the rope and then descend.

A more elaborate version of the trick would find the magician (or his assistant) disappearing after reaching top of the rope, then reappearng at ground level.

The "classic" version of the trick, however, was even more detailed: the rope would seem to rise high into the skies, even disappearing from view. The boy assistant would climb the rope, and soon be lost to view. The magician would call back his boy assistant, and on hearing no response, would become furious. The magician then armed himself with a knife or sword, and he would also climb the rope and disappear in the thin air. An arguments would be heard, and then human limbs would start falling on the ground, presumably cut from the assistant by the magician. When all the parts of the body, including the torso, landed on the ground, the magician would be seen climbing down from the erect rope. He would collect the limbs and put them in a basket, or simply collect all the limbs in one place and then cover them with a cape or blanket. Soon the magician’s boy assistant would appear, miraculously restored.

[edit]
The accounts
Marco Polo (1254-1324), during his stay in India and China, is believed to have witnessed the Indian rope trick. Ibn Batuta, while traveling through Hangzhou, China in 1346, claims to have seen a trick similar to the Indian rope trick.

The legend states that similar tricks were performed during the period of the Mughal Empire (16th-19th centuries) in the Indian subcontinent from Peshawar to Dhaka, and at several important centers of Mughal powers, including Murshidabad, Patna, Agra, and Delhi.

During the period of the British Raj, several account exist reporting the performance of the Indian rope trick, during 1850 and 1900. The Chicago Tribune, in 1890, published an account of the Indian rope trick compiled by Fred S. Ellmore, and the story was repeated in several newspapers.

Once the British Magic Circle, convinced that the trick did not exist, offered hundred guineas to anyone who could perform the trick. A man named Karachi, also spelt Kirachi (real name Arthur), a British performer based in Plymouth endeavored to perform the trick along with his son, Kyder. Reportedly, his son could climb the rope, but did not disappear, and Karachi was not paid. The incident was also filmed near Hatfield in Hertfordshire in 1936.

The magician’s assistant climbs the rope and the magic ends.
The assistant climbs the rope, vanishes, and then again appears.
The assistant vanishes, and appears from some other place.
The assistant vanishes, and reappears from a place which had remained in full view of the audience.
The boy vanishes, and does not return.
Accounts of the Indian rope trick collected by Wiseman did not have any single account describing severing of the limbs of the magician’s boy assistant. Perhaps even more important, he found that the more spectacular accounts were only given when the incident lay several decades in the past. It's conceivable that in the witnesses memory the Indian rope trick merged with the basket trick. And with any story, there must be an explanation. Over the years, several theories have been floated to explain the supposed trick, including mass hypnosis and levitation. Performance during the dusk and twilight may have given some benefit to the magician.
Another theory explains the Indian rope trick as stage magic. The trick was performed between two trees or similarly placed objects like two buildings, and at night. A strong, narrow wire was placed between the trees, and when the rope was thrown above, it got hooked up with the string. This allowed the boy to climb up, though not to vanish or be dismembered.

They explained the Trick as
After renting a small hall, Penn and Teller invited two British tourists who happened to be shopping nearby to see what they claimed was a fakir performing the trick. As they walked back, an assistant ran up and claimed the fakir was in the midst of the trick, so they rushed the rest of the way so they wouldn't miss it. As soon as the witnesses neared the room they simply dropped a thick rope from a balcony . The witnesses saw what they thought was the end of the trick, the rope falling as if it had been in mid-air seconds before. A sheet was then removed from a boy with fake blood at his neck and shoulders, hinting that his limbs and head and been miraculously reattached to his torso. According to their account, the rumor that a British couple had witnessed the trick was heard a few weeks later in England.

Ice Ice Baby !!!

Effect

Pour some water into a cup, blow on the cup and then turn it upside down where out pops some ice cubes.

You need a cup or glass that you can't see through. You also need a small sponge and and some ice cubes.

Method

Prepare the cup by placing the sponge into the bottom of the cup. Then, drop a few ice cubes on top of the sponge and you're ready to go.

To perform pour a small amount of water (about an inch) into the cup. The sponge will absorb the water. Blow into the cup, wave your hands over it and dump out the ice cubes.

If you are using a disposible plastic cup for the trick, just throw it away at this time.

Watch the look of surprise on your friends faces.

Quick Coin Vanish

Effect:

A coin is placed onto the table. It is picked up and it magically vanishes.

Method:

First, let me tell you this is about as easy as a magic trick as it gets. Set the coin onto the table with your left hand. Say something like "Check this out" and reach over with your right hand. Then press down on the coin with your index, middle, and 3rd fingers with your hand and arm parrallel with the table. Slide the coin towards you keeping in mind it should be completely covered up. Slide the coin off the table so it falls into your lap. Touch your thumb to your middle finger as if you are picking up the coin as it reaches the edge of the table. Keeping all your fingers closed still. Stare at where the coin should be as you slowly move your hand away from you back to about 6 inches above where the coin originally was. Start moving your thumb in a circular motion as if the coin is dissapearing. Slowly turn your hand around and spread your fingers apart. Now the rest is up to you. The more surprised you act and if you act like you were all fortunate to see a miracle, people will believe the trick even more and remember it ( and you ) forever , --------- maybe.

Group Levitation Secret

An interesting stunt where a person is lifted up into the air by the fingertips of a group. Interesting and mystifying theory. Read how it's done here.

Effect: A person becomes seemingly weightless and may be lifted from a chair on the index fingers of four smaller people.
Although various explanations have been proposed, this classic stunt continues to mystify and amuse.

Stage 1: The person to be lifted ( choose a fairly heavy person ) should be relaxed but upright on a firm chair. Feet should be on the floor and their hands on their lap

. The four assistants should stand two on each side of the person, one by each shoulder and one by each knee. Each assistant should make fists with both hands, then extend the two forefingers and touch them together, gently but firmly the two assistants standing by the shoulders, place their extended forefingers under the seated persons right or left armpit.

The other two assistants place their forefinger under the seated persons left or right knee The person to be lifted thinks "down" and imagines him or herself to be sinking into the chair. In this position, the four assistants should try to lift the person.

Stage 2: The assistants should now place their palms on top of the seated persons knee or shoulder and together, exert a steady downwards force. While they are doing this someone counts out loud from one to ten. On the count of nine, the four assistants quickly take their former positions with extended forefingers under the armpit or knee. On the count of ten, they try again to lift the person. The seated person should think"up" and imagine himself or herself rising into the air. If these instructions are followed carefully, the person will soar straight up into the air on the forefingers of the assistants.

This trick is very visual and can really entertain a crowd.

Disappearing Quarter magic trick

What you need :

a quarter
napkin
How to do this Disappearing Quarter magic:

To do this trick, hold the quarter in your hand, between your thumb and your index finger. The palm of your hand should be facing your body.

Now practice passing the quarter from your right hand to your left hand. If you're left handed, you can hold the quarter in your left hand. It's good to do this so you know what it's supposed to look like when you pretend to pass the quarter. That way you can fake it better.

Now, for the magic. This time instead of passing the quarter to your other hand, you're going to say the magic words, " abra ca dabra" , Make this coin leave the room now!" and use the index and middle fingers on your empty left hand to knock the quarter into your right hand. You still pretend to grab the quarter with your left hand, as you are dropping it into your right hand.
Keep practicing and soon you will be able to learn this magic trick like a pro!

Finding 3 cards magic

Using a 52-card deck, have three people each select a card without showing it to you. Tell them to memorize their card.

Deal one pile of 10 cards face down. Next to it deal a pile of 15 cards, and next to that deal another 15-card pile. Keep the remaining 9 cards in your hand. Have the first person put his (or her) card on top of the 10-card pile, cut as many cards as he wants from the second pile, and put them on his card. Have the second person put her card on the second pile, cut as many cards as she wants from the third pile, and put them on top of her card. Have the third person put his card on top of the third pile, hand him the 9 cards you're holding, and have him place them on top of his card.

Pick up the last pile, put it on the middle pile, and put both on the first pile. Make clear that the cards are now lost and you will find them. Take four cards off the top and place them on the bottom of the deck. Explain that you are going to flip a card up and next to it one down and keep on repeating this until you don't have cards in your hand. Tell the spectators to say "Stop" if they see their card. Deal the cards alternately into two piles, one face up and one face down, starting with the face-up pile. When all the cards have been dealt (the spectators won't see their card unless you mess up), push the face-up pile aside and pick up the other pile. Deal it into two piles in exactly the same way. Keep repeating this until you have only three cards left face down. Turn them over, and there are their cards. The top one is the third person's card, the next is the second person's card, and the bottom one is the first person's card.

Quick Coin Vanish trick

The Magic Effect:

A coin is placed onto the table. It is picked up and it magically vanishes. cool eh ?

Method of doing the magic trick :

easy magic trick ! Set the coin onto the table with your left hand. Say something like "Check this out" and reach over with your right hand. Then press down on the coin with your index, middle, and 3rd fingers with your hand and arm parallel with the table. Slide the coin towards you keeping in mind it should be completely covered up.

Card On The Ceiling magic trick

Effect: A spectator from the audience selects, signs & returns a card to the deck. The deck is then shuffled and the card that they signed, sticks to the ceiling while the others fall.

Preparation: You will need a pen, cards and a piece of magicians wax or sticky tape that has been rolled in a loop with the sticky side facing out. - This should be looped around your finger or underr the table

Method: Have the spectator choose a card which is then, using your own favorite method, returned to the deck & shuffled to the top. With the spectators card face down on top of the pack, you can either slip the double sided sticky tape off your finger and on to the back of their card or stick a small piece of magicians wax to it.

Then toss the pack hard at the ceiling, keeping it paralel. The spectators card should stick and the rest of the pack will fall. ! Amazing card trick !

Rabbit from silks !

Here's a good trick if you want to do that rabbit stuff. You can replace the rabbit for something else if you want.

Effect : A live rabbit appears inside a bundle of large silks.

Magic Secret : Take one silk, and lay it down flat. Then take a rabbit and put it in the center of the silk. Then tie two corners of it together, and hang the knot on a nail that is nailed on the back of your magic table, or put the bundle in a servante. Then, to present the trick, show about 5 silks empty, and count them onto the table. Then, when you pick them up, hook your thumb under the knot of the silk hanging behind the table, and carry it up behind the silks. Then walk to the front of the table, closer to the audience, and produce the rabbit. You will find that the rabbit will easily come out the side of the handkerchief it was tied in.

Popular Card

Materials Needed:

1 Standard Card Deck with all Tens, Jacks , Queens, and Kings removed.
Ability to do math in your head.
Pad of paper and pencil.

How the Trick Appears:

Using math you figure out two cards that a person has chosen.

How the Trick Works:

Have someone shuffle the cards. Take a group of cards and hold them in your hand, spread out in a fan shape. Ask him/her to choose a card from among them. Tell the person to remember it and then to put it back in the deck.

Give the person a peice of paper and pencil if they are not that good at doing math in their head, or remembering a few numbers at a time.

Ask them to double the value of the card they picked, and then to add 5.

Now have them multiply that number by 5. Tell them to remember this number.

Instruct them to look at another card in the deck, and to add its value to the total that they had computed before. They are to tell you the final total of everything.

In your head, subtract 25 from the total. The two digits you get are the same as the two cards they chose.

Example: they choose a Six (6), then a Three (3).

6 (doubled) = 12 plus 5 = 17. Multiply times 5 = 85.

Three added to total = 88. You subtract 25 = 63.

They picked a Six and a Three!

Notes: Aces are counted as "1"

Practice this trick before performing. It's easy to get confused on how a card trick works just from reading about it. Having a deck of cards in your hands as you try and learn the tricks on this page will make it much easy to learn, understand and then master

Coin Trick !

He pulls the handkerchief off and Abracadabra! the coin has disappeared.

Supplies: A sheet of construction paper (1), a clear glass, a handkerchief and a coin.

Preparation:
Trace the glass onto the sheet of paper and cut the circle out. Then tape it to the glass so when you put it onto a piece of paper the same color it blends in.

Secret: When you do the above put the glass onto a piece of paper and just basically move the paper covered glass over the coin while the whole thing is under the handkerchief so the glass covers the coin. Pull off the handkerchief. The coin will have "disappeared.

Rope !

Supplies: One long piece rope

Secret:
The rope already has a knot in one end... Tie a knot in one end of the rope. Hide this end with the knot in your hand and bring the other end of the rope up next to it. Shake your hand as if you're trying to knot it. Drop the end with the knot and it looks like you have tied a knot in the rope using one hand. That's It

Tips and hints!

Tips and hints to help you become a successful
Practice in front of a mirror so you can see the trick as your audience will. Practice lots!

Practice the "patter" as well as the trick. Figure out before hand what you want to say during the show. Good patter will help distract the audience just enough to keep them from guessing how you've pulled off your magical feats! Here's a start for you:
I have a magic trick for you.

It should be lots of fun.
Pay very close attention,
And guess how it is done!

Resist the temptation to tell how the trick worked... keep them guessing and they'll be even more impressed with your show.

Never do the same trick more than once for the same audience. It makes it too easy for the audience to guess how it was done.

Control the seating arrangements... some of the tricks require that the people be looking straight at you. Have the audience remain seated throughout the show.

Wherever you can, borrow the objects from the audience... coins, pencils, napkins, etc. Borrowing from the audience makes it seem like the magician hasn't had time to do anything sneaky to the item. This makes everything seem more magical!

Spirit writing

The magician is seen to write something down on a paper note pad and does not allow the spectator to see what he has written. The magican announces that he is about to ask the spectator a question and because he can read his mind, already knows the answer that the spectator will reply back with. The spectator is then asked to think of a number between one and a hundred or a simple shape such as a triangle, square or rectangle and reveal this out loud. The note pad is then shown to find that the magician had written the same number or shape down on the note pad!

Method: Make a gimmick by taping a small piece of broken pencil lead to your thumb, ( Use clear adhesive tape such as Sellotape so that the spectator and audience will not see it and remember to keep the sticky side facing out ). Initially write nothing on the note pad, ( only appear to be writing something ) and when you hide the face of the note pad from the spectator, do so with your thumb facing the side of the paper that you had supposedly written something on ( See picture 3). When your victim says the number or shape that they have thought of, simply write it on the note pad with your thumb and then show it to them as your prediction.

This trick is really convincing but depends a great deal on the magicians performance. Try your hand at acting, look as if you are really concentrating and that the trick requires real mental effort on your part. This will reinforce the illusion that you really can read minds.

coffee to coins trick

Set up: Get one of those coffee machine dispensed cups made of waxed paper and preferably with a pattern on the outside. Remove the bottom of the cup about an inch up from the bottom with a modelling knife or scissors and then place the cup back together by gently sliding the top half of the cup into the base using a slight twisting action if needed. Stack the cup three quarters full with coins.

Pack the coins in tightly and then pour in a little coffee, enough to cover the coins completely.

Coffee works best because it's so dark and will hide the coins. The cup should now look like a normal cup of coffee and is now ready to present to an audience.

Performance: Comment on how the patterns on the side of the cup are magic symbols.

Holding the top half of the cup with one hand, gently push up the bottom half of the cup with a slight screwing action with your other hand, then shake the cup.

As the coins “unsettle” the coffee will spill between the cracks and the coins appear.

This trick can be done with any cup of the waxed paper type that are usually found in vending machines. Be careful not to use hot coffee. Take care when using the modelling knife as it is sharp, even better, if your a kid, get an adult to cut it for you.

Card Trick!

Effect: You are walking down the street and casually pick any spectator,.

You ask them to come with you to a nearby car and pick a dead fly off the windscreen.

You hold it in your hand, do a few passes with the other hand and appear to be really concentrating as the fly slowly comes back to life to the surprise of the spectator.

Preparation: Freeze the fly.

Method: You need to catch a fly and freeze it which puts it in a temporary coma, this can be done by swatting the fly hard enough to immobilise it then placing it in a small container in the freezer.

A lot of this trick is in the actions of you reviving the fly.

It may be necessary to practice how long it takes for the fly to revive itself.

Card Trick

Effect:
The magician takes a packet of ten cards from the top of a shuffled deck. A spectator thinks of one of those cards and memorizes it. The magician tells the spectator to also memorize the position of the card from the top of the (face-down) packet. That done, the magician squares the packet up.

Magician divides the packet in half. He takes the top five cards and places them under the bottom five. He asks the spectator for the position of the remembered card. Magician takes a card from the top of the packet and puts it on the bottom. Do this the same number of times as the number the spectator gave you.

The magician finds the card, using the Elimination Shuffle.

The Elimination Shuffle: Take the top card off the packet and put on the bottom. Take the new top card and put it on the table. Keep doing this, one card to the bottom, next card to the table, until you hold only one card. It will be the card the spectator chose.

practice it, u will have fun and fool others
